You can imagine the response a simple note on the Popes passing elicited on the "Don't need no foreign pope tellin' us Muricans how to talk to God 'cause He's Murican too" CPS facebook page. Those people are nuts.

I understand the next Pope will be a woman of color.

Are there any of our old-timers there?

I am considering signing on to the Facebooks.

It's been quite a while since I looked at CPS on FB. I'll occasionally look at the old Alt CPS FB page.

My prayers for all of my RC friends, for their loss, and for safe travels for everyone to the funeral and post meetings. I'll miss seeing Pope Francis in the news, and all of the discussions that he generated. I wonder who is next in line and where he is from, and how long it will take for the choice to be made.

One (who's not taken the pulse of the Catholic church) wonders if the church, like the US and a few European countries, will swing back towards conservatism after it's experiment with a 'progressive' leader. Or, since that door was opened by Francis, it will continue in that direction.

I suppose they're 'there', but not active. If you want to connect with the cool kids, go to the alt.cps.net FB group.

Lemme letcha in on a little secret. Not even Catholics can take the pulse of the Catholic Church. We're a worldwide people and famously fractious. Herding cats and all that jazz.

But when it gets whittled down to 3 or 4 frontrunners, then we'll all get some idea of the mainlines of thought informing the process. 'Til then (and maybe even then), it's a crapshoot.
