I'm not plugged in to the boxing world or the counter-top cooking industry, but yeah he seems like one of the really good guys. I don't recall any scandal tied to him, and he was famous enough, for long enough, that it would have come out if there was anything there.

He had quite the testimonial. In his later years, he became a preacher and ran a youth center. There's a documentary or two and a movie about his life. Worth the watch.
