I have owned several of each. I currently own a Colt 80 Series Government Model and a S&W M-28. Great guns and each tops in their areas of service for me.

Shootin' stuff
Clearly. But not helpful. As others here; I have both. Both nice, both accurate, both fun. I'd use them for different purposes other than 'stuff' though.

One night we're catching up on the phone, he lives in Topac, AZ and is a fervent 2A supporting human. Has a legal concealed carry and everything.

I tell him I miss my old S&W Model K .357 that I used to wear open carry a long time back also in AZ.

Now I gotta listen to him bro-splain it to me for the next 45 minutes on how much better the .45 is to any .357.

Ok, whatever.

A few days later in my mailbox is a package from my brother. A 50 round box of .45 ACP rounds.

Yellow sticky note attached said,

OK. Now you got the ammo. Go get a real gun. Pussy.
You know, that's an argument I've always found easy to win. Ask him to stand still and tell you if it hurts!
ok, that was a good one.

Purpose of 1911 is ABSOLUTE Reliability in a side arm. Every caliber is capable of knockdown. Very few hold magazines below 15 rounds and mag is changeable in less than 2 seconds.

For me, (and most modern day concealed carriers) there are 2 drawbacks that Glock has overcome:
1: 1911 is a larger gun and difficult to carry in an IWB (inside waistband holster)
2: 1911 traditionally has a Thumb Safety. (Not all, but many have this feature) This is a lawyer loved device because they can claim that if you had time and thought to deactivate the safety you may have had time to de escalate the situation so YOU are to blame for the death of the person entering your presence with intent to do you significant or lethal harm. (Glock has 3 safety systems but none involves the trigger. The assumption is that if you put your finger on the trigger and pull, you have intent, fear and reason to fire without having to think of any other activity.)

Shooting a bad human doing obvious bad human things.

Or, as some like to fluff it up; favored conceal carry side arm.

As an aside: Did you get all, like 100% of the pink or purple glitter you were gifted cleaned away? No sight of even a single glitter flake that you think you caught in the peripheral? You know what you saw. It's there. It will ALWAYS be there. You cannot possibly be rid of them. You're gonna need to move if you haven't yet. Hey! That reminds me. Looking to update all my TFF ship to addresses. You haven't moved within the last 3 years, right?

:D ok, first things first - If you want to put down bad guys; 1911. For the simple reason that more rounds = more putage downage. Bad guy body won't know the diff between .45 or .357

Secondly, we did move. So neener neener you big meaner.
