We never did it when I was growing up, but later on with my own family, during the 80s, I saw a cooking show with Justin Wilson, who made cantaloupe sherbet and watermelon sherbet. I bought one of his books during that time, Outdoor Cooking with Inside Help, and made watermelon sherbet all summer long that year. Good times indeed.JimVH wrote: 19 Jul 2022, 08:10 We had both the crank and electric models at one time or another and built some good memories around them. Dad had three boys at his disposal, so the hand crank was his favorite.
My favorite flavor we ever made was cantaloupe. It called for a really ripe melon, part diced and part pureed. It's exactly what summer should taste like.
