Last night my wife and I attended the Bum Phillips Bowl, Port Neches-Groves Indians Vs Nederland Bulldogs. Port Neches - Groves won 41-16, and Wade Phillips was at the game and presented the trophy. It was the 100th football game between these two schools. "Mid-County Madness", it's called.
Anyway, our grandson plays for Port Neches-Groves and had a great game.
Afterward my wife and I celebrated by going to a local Sonic Drive In, for small trick-or-treat ice creams.

We handed out over 6 lbs of candy tonight, to only maybe ~50-60 trick or treaters. It's hard to say, really. They were mostly in 2s, 3s and 4s, but there were some large groups that came by too. Only a few Barbies, several vegetables (pumpkins, carrots, etc), at least 2 or 3 ninjas, more than a few football and baseball players, and LOTS of girls that I suspect were Swifties.
The bad thing is that we have 1 - 2lb bag of candy left over. The good thing is that it's those miniature Kit Kats and Snickers bars. (The Snickers got past my wife's "no peanuts" policy for Halloween.)

A college roommate just invited me to like a country line dancing group on FB. 35 years too late.

We burned through almost 5 pounds. A big success for our quiet little cul-de-sac street. I saw several ninjas and Swifties (my neighbor had to help me identify those), but the biggest costume trend of the night was parents dressed as Rip and Beth from Yellowstone. We usually have a couple of mom's in questionable daddy-issue costumes, but I guess the cold took care of that this year.sweetandsour wrote: 31 Oct 2023, 19:08 We handed out over 6 lbs of candy tonight, to only maybe ~50-60 trick or treaters. We escaped with very few leftovers, but then this morning our very generous neighbor across the street left a shopping bag on our doorstep HEAVY with leftover, full-sized Paydays and Snickers (Rita's favs).

I went thru a large stainless cooking bowl full of candy. Lots of young kids, only 2 teen agers...but they got treats, because they were dressed at the Duck Dynasty guys, with Beards and duck calls (A+++). We were done by 7:45JimVH wrote: 01 Nov 2023, 09:02We burned through almost 5 pounds. A big success for our quiet little cul-de-sac street. There were some parents in costume but I wouldn't have recognized any from movies or TV. I was sort of watching for the lady that dressed as a playboy bunny a couple of years ago, but I guess it was too cool outside for that. But I did see a young mom dressed as a she-devil, with small horns and red suit with a long pointed tail, that was pretty cute.JimVH wrote: 01 Nov 2023, 09:02We burned through almost 5 pounds. Watching the World Series last night (congratulations to the Rangers and Rangers fans) and Mrs FredS says, "Did that guy just call them D Bags?"
"No dear, it's D Backs, short for Diamond Backs. Like the snake. They're from AZ."
