I've always used a backup. When it comes to my head being crushed or not, I prefer a little insurance.

This is me chopping out the exhaust and preparing to change the transmission in a Plymouth Fury ('67 I think) that my uncle gave me. 40ish years and *40ish pounds ago. Notice I left the chain attached to the tractor.JimVH wrote: 16 Aug 2023, 10:30This. I even use jackstands with ramps. I have the Ford Faithful oiler from the Model T sitting on our patio table, waiting for parts.

I got a call from the shop regarding our 2014 Passat. Both the pressure relief valve and the oil cooler are toast.
This is going to be 'spensive and I take it a harbinger of things to come with the ol' Passat, so a new ride is probably in order. Right after I finish paying off the repair bill

We had to rent a car to get us through the weekend.
Hertz rented us a cute little Chevy Bolt.
I'm quickly learning to detest EVs.

For 5 years.
After that, you're living on borrowed time. Expect a $3000 repair bill any day thereafter. Probably the same day your savings account dips below $2000.

I should have bought a Honda.
