Wise choice, otherwise you'll have to have a blue suit and red necktie. It appears to be a requirement in DC.

Today is my friend Harold's birthday. We were friends in high school and roommates for a year in college. His birthday is two days after mine but we never knew that 'till I mentioned his name to my mother for some reason when we were perhaps 20 years old. She asked "Does his family own the gas station at 6th & Mississippi St?" Turned out Harold's mom and my mom were roommates in the hospital when we were born!

More cross pollination with Harold -

His younger brother and crew was suspected of stealing some stuff from my uncle Frosty's tire shop and then torching it to cover their tracks. This was 40 years ago before security cameras and cell phones recording everything, and the gang kept quiet, so the investigation never went anywhere but Harold's brother split to California anyway. A year later Harold followed. He married and bought a nice spread in the mountains near Sacramento. Again, it was 40 years ago when one could afford that type of deal on a city employees salary. The gal he married is from the town in CO where we now live. They came to visit a few years ago and the wives were horrified as we revisited old war stories of four day binges, street racing and other minor crimes, concert road trips, billiard parlor scuffles, and a police chase through Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. Harold had a really fast Monte Carlo and knew how to drive it. Honestly, we were kind of surprised ourselves as we filled in the blanks of one another's memories.

My grandson's current status. His mom was in the seat next to him. I got a text from her saying "The jeep is done. I'm saving my phone".

No great story ever started with "Let's take the safe route".
