A long time ago, Mrs FredS's grandparents owned a lodge in the mountains west of the Colorado town we now live in. It was built in the 1920's I think and they bought it in the 60's. The main lodge/restaurant burned down and they closed it in the 70's but her grandparents kept their summer home there. That house and the very primitive cabins still stand today. Mrs FredS cleaned cabins, did laundry, and other odd jobs around there every summer when she was a child. The first time she took me there around '83 I fell in love with the place. Eventually we moved here, primarily because I'm in love with that river.

Anyway, I buy postcards of Pine Vu (corny name, I know) whenever I can find them under $10. Here's a few. The first one shows the bridge that's claimed a lot of rafts and kayaks and even a few lives. Every river rat around knows of the place and the guidebooks warn of it, though they now call it "Pine View".

I have a new boss (elected official) so today was swearing in day. He got sworn in, and then the attorney staff and then investigator staff got sworn in. "I (state your name) do solemnly swear...

I celebrated by getting a sandwich at the shop on the way back to the office

There are some local history books that mention the place. I revisited them last night and found I was off on my dates. Built in 1947. There are conflicting accounts of the fire and closing date but is was probably very late 80's. The guy who installed the internet at our mountain cabin told Mrs FredS that he's seen the yellow and red sign at another place in the hills but he couldn't remember exactly where. I've posted on all the neighborhood groups up there and never got any more leads. Some day I'll have a replica made to put on our cabin that we call Pine Vu.

In case you were wondering, It takes approximately one year for your toe nail to regrow after falling off.

I performed classical guitar for the prelude at church this Sunday. I'm working to overcome or manage anxiety while performing. This was a positive experience. Anxiety came up but I was able to deal with it and not let it get to where my hands are shaking so, that I cannot play (which is what's been happening). I basically gave a 20 minute concert. A simple gift. Super glad I could do it.

Dude. Wrong thread. If I care, it doesn't belong here and I care. Great job!
