He's against it. Calls for boycotts of social media platforms that allow it.
The article is 4 years old. I'm sure Sir Elton is happier now that 'hate speech' is indeed being shut down, censored, suppressed, and swept off into the dark corners of the world.

Reminds me of the free speech debates of the 60s and 70s. "Are you free to tell "fire!" in a crowded theater", etc etc.

Not seeing any "1st Amendment" issue, though his reasoning is silly and backwards.
If it's merely a private business, then they have discretion over what they allow or don't allow.
But if it's in-part a "public" venue as he argues, then the Constitutional issues of free speech (including "hate speech") come into play.
