We got a Save he Date request from a relative in a gay relationship.
From what we've heard from one of her friends, it will be an invitation for an engagement party and when the invitees are present the wedding will take place off the cuff, as it were.

I don't think I want to be a part of this.
Nor do I want to cause trouble, or make her feel I'm being judgmental (even though I am) which could lead to family friction.
I really care about this kid, and since she's been involved in youth groups (including being a councilor) at her Evangelical church ever since she was a little girl she already knows all the moral objections so I can tell her nothing she'll consider. They already live together and have a house and I'm sure the inevitable will cause much pain to her parents, whom I also care a great deal about.

I just don't want to go to a same sex wedding, much less a duplicitous one.

I could use a prayer for wisdom.
My knee jerk wisdom is to have a camping trip already planned for that weekend, but maybe God has something else in mind for me

Praying.

A wedding is a covenant making ceremony (Malachi 2:14). It would be hard to justify a Christian being a witness to such a covenant.

There are other ways to express love.

It turns out I'm scheduled for rotator cuff surgery the day before the "wedding" so my family can use that as an excuse for me not attending.
I didn't know the dates before scheduling, so in one way I'm glad this happened and in another way I'm pissed off because my family shouldn't feel the need to offer an excuse for me not to attend this unholy cabal.
