Absolutely useless facts about you nobody cares about
Yesterday I helped extinguish a truck fire at our next door neighbor's. The fire started in the tailgate, then caught the bed liner on fire, then the tires. It was a hot one, for sure, but we had it out before the area firetruck arrived.
The Indians will not bother you now, on account of ... you are touched.

What'd he have to say?

That’s an odd place to start. I can’t think of a vehicle fire I ever made that started at the back (commercial trailers excluded).sweetandsour wrote: 26 Jun 2023, 20:31 Yesterday I helped extinguish a truck fire at our next door neighbor's. Added thought: Of course tailgates didn’t have electrical components back in the olden days, either.

I told the firemen that this was the first truck bed fire I'd ever had. One of the firemen said that the last five truck fires he's responded to all started in the bed of the truck. I got home and googled Ford pickup tailgate fires, but didn't see anything in particular. There's recalls for back up cameras but not due to fires. But I guess if a wire anywhere gets shorted then there's gonna be trouble.JimVH wrote: 26 Jun 2023, 22:46That’s an odd place to start. Yep. My tailgate has a wiring harness nearly as thick as my pinky running into it from the chassis for the power lock and camera.sweetandsour wrote: 26 Jun 2023, 23:33I told the firemen that this was the first truck bed fire I'd ever had. I googled it and most of the links were about an 11 car fire at the Miami football stadium from someone operating a BBQ grill too close to a car. Tailgate v. tailgating, I guess.

A buddy of mine in Houston said that one of his employees tailgate was stolen not long ago but before the recent inflation; and it cost almost $2500 for the replacement.JimVH wrote: 27 Jun 2023, 07:47Yep. The Washington Post has started an investigation into the proliferation of these fires and thefts. Bob Woodward is calling it 'tailgate'.sweetandsour wrote: 27 Jun 2023, 19:28A buddy of mine in Houston said that one of his employees tailgate was stolen not long ago but before the recent inflation; and it cost almost $2500 for the replacement.JimVH wrote: 27 Jun 2023, 07:47Yep.
