I've had the same thought. At least Del comments - and comments, and comments, and comments - when he drops the links and snippets. Wos just drops them and walks away without much, if any, comment. Fred 1.0 would have said they're each mentally masturbating. Fred 2.0 is more gracious and suggests they're trying to spark conversation, but the subjects are not of primary importance or interest to others, so they don't get much dialog.

Understood.

You can't vote for Trump, as you are not a US citizen.
But you can probably vote for Kamala.

"My" threads aren't echo chambers. Del chimes in regularly to Delsplain-away Church teaching and substitute a Trump-safe simulacrum.

Just sayin'.

And to mention that Democrats kill babies. All-in for the genocide.

C'mon man. You've been hammering the Dems as the party run by 'the machine' but you're blind to the machine behind the R's. Many Republican voters support abortion and many have even faced that painful decision themselves. Recent polls suggest "Among Republicans and independents who lean toward the Republican Party, 57% say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases." Of course that doesn't align with the Republican machine or the elected Republicans who labor for the machine. One wonders if those legislators say they oppose abortion because that's what their voters say or because that's what the machine says.

Note that I am not saying I favor abortion, or that a majority of people supporting it makes it right. I'm saying Del's Broad Brush™ doesn't cover the entirety of (what I presume is) his party.

The primary work of the Party Machine is to choose the candidates. Both parties used to do this... until Romney failed to beat Obama in 2012. Since then, Republicans have let voters decide. Believe me, the Establishment Republicans would not have allowed Trump to run, or to run again.

The Democrat Machine denied an open primary against Biden, then fired Biden, coronated Kamala, and eliminated Shapiro. You can have whatever feels you want about that, and express those if you wish. I'm actually curious as to what reg'lar Democrat voters are thinking.
=================================

Regarding abortion: I was responding to wosbald. He and I both know that a Catholic citizen cannot vote for a candidate who openly supports abortion on demand, for any reason, with no restrictions. We are talking grave risk of mortal sin. We can't balance that evil against any lesser policies that we may prefer, like having student loans forgiven. Innocent life is non-negotiable.

And the days of Bill Clinton and "Safe, Legal, and Rare" are long behind us. Kamala, Walz, and the shadowy Democrat leaders are all in for "Abortion on Demand without Restriction." They want more taxpayer funding for abortion.

Wosbald keeps saying that there is a Catholic non-negotiable teaching regarding immigration, and that Trump's border policies are going to violate our conscience. So much sir that when Catholic voters stand for judgment, we can face the 3 million children who will die under Kamala's regime and proudly declare why their lives were worth the cost.

The point of my comment to wozzie is that he has his Catholic "non-negotiables" inside-out and upside-down. Catholicism does not say that every person has a natural right to enter America if he wants to. Catholism does say that every child has a natural right to not be murdered.
-==================================

Kamala wants a national law that restores the no-limits of Roe v. Wade: No state can restrict abortion in any way.

Trump wants to respect Dobbs, permitting states to decide for themselves without a federal law.

Politically, I would prefer a federal limit of 12 to 16 weeks or so (as European nations do). And the states and cities can be more strict or ban abortion entirely, as they wish. And no more federal funding to the abortion lobby. I think voters would agree to this, and it sets a moral tone that abortion isn't a good to society that should be promoted.

You quote the 57% number or whatever it is, but that's just a national average. In specific regions, support for abortion is much greater or markedly less so. Voters deserve to have local laws that respect their local values.

Back on track:

I did not open this thread to debate issues. Mostly, it's just to share news about candidates, policies, and items of interest.

I apologize for the the blitz of Tim Walz posts. He was a new and unknown thing. I think we know him now.

Listening to his first speech rally with Kamala -- Walz is far more articulate and personable than Kamala. The guy can do rhetoric! I'm actually looking forward to seeing him and Vance in a debate.

Trump says that he has agreed to three debates with Kamala in September. On three networks: FOX, NBC, and ABC. Kamala has not yet agreed to the terms of the debates.

Vance and Walz will face off on a debate moderated by CBS.

During the press conference at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, the Republican presidential nominee said he has agreed to a debate against Harris on Fox News on September 4, another debate on ABC on September 10, and a third debate on NBC on September 25. Trump described the NBC debate as “a fairly full agreement, subject to them.”

“We have spoken to the heads of the networks and it’s all been confirmed other than some fairly minor details,” Trump said.

“The other side has to agree to the terms,” he added, referring to the Harris campaign. “They may or may not agree. I don’t know. She hasn’t done an interview. ...

Okay.... Here's something solid:

Kamala stepped over to reporters and took questions for 70 seconds before turning away to board her plane. Here is the full video on CSPAN:

https://www.c-span.org/video/?537657-1/ ... nald-trump

She took four questions from reporters. Quick summary transcript:

On the proposed debates? "I'm glad that he finally agreed to debate on Sept. 10."

Any more debates? "I'm happy to have that conversation, after Sept. 10."

Your response regarding Tim Walz and accusations of stolen valor? "I praise anyone who served."

Possibility of an interview? "I want to get one scheduled before the end of the month."
