"Yes. As a matter of fact, I do need both the couch and the chair."

This is where Poppy spends the day while I'm in my office.

She thinks she's a 13 year old girl. If you know, you know.

I have a 13 year old girl. She had a stroke about a month ago. That gal never complained, never snapped, and has made about as close to a full recovery as you're going to get out of a geriatric bouvier.

She wasn't spoiled before. She sure is now. No sofa off limits. Treats are no longer treats. And my human females are all over her.

Not going to lie. It's going to break me in pieces

How spoiled are your pets?

So I was in line at the bank today and a guy walked up behind me and asked if Boop is a Shih Tzu. I said yes and he proceeded to tell me that she looked just like his and wondered if they were related. Now you can’t spit in this part of Texas without hitting a dog like mine. They are everywhere. Almost every person that has ever owned a Shih Tzu says the same thing when they see another. It’s kind of tedious sometimes, but Shih Tzu people get really excited about seeing another of their own, so I try not to step on their buzz when they acknowledge what is arguably the most beautiful dog in the history of the world on the end of my leash.

Anyway, the guy won’t let up about how similar our dogs look to each other and I resist the urge to give back an eye roll. He even whips out his photos on his phone. Turns out he’s a really nice guy and our dogs are a near perfect match. We got to talking, and to make an already too long story shorter, it turns out that his dog is Boop’s younger brother by 14 or 15 months. Legit. We both got them from the same guy, two counties away, who only had one female that he bred every year to year and a half. We’re checking papers to see if they had the same stud.

This is probably the most pretentious thing I’ve ever said, but we are scheduling a play date for the two of them. I’m curious.

Small world.

That made me grin. Men are great and we don't get enough credit for it.
