Even though this is all over FB, I won't discuss it there but I need to unload somewhere. Please forgive me for dumping it here.
My cousin Shelby was shot and killed last Sunday morning. He was 53. You've prayed for Shelby before. I think he was sober but he's been fighting the heroin demon for >20 years. He lived in a downstairs apartment from his brother Chuck. We've prayed for Chuck too. Chuck is my age and he's been in and out of prison his whole life and Shelby associates with dangerous people on the street so I don't know who was the actual target. The killer is an addict who's also been in and out of the joint so who knows who he was gunning for. He killed another man a few miles away and shot at the police during a high speed chase. He's in jail now. We've all done what we could for those guys, but it doesn't always work out.
Shelby told me once when he was clean that he'd accepted Christ, but he may have just been trying to put me at ease. Please pray Christ does indeed know His lost lamb and that He came to find him. Pray for my Aunt and Uncle. There's been a lot of death and even other murders in that family. They've lost too many children and I fear this will break them both. And pray for me. This has me pretty effed up. I won't be able to attend the funeral as we've had a trip planned with my kids and grands for over 2 years and it's not right to skip out on them.
