An idea about population planning
Now that we have established that government policies regarding population control are tyranny and blasphemy and racism and a violation of human rights, who's down for a pipe or cigar and some good bourbon?

Most definitely. This thread aside, the past year has been such a complete whirlwind for me that a really good evening of smoke and drink and good friends would be a blessed respite.Del wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 09:41 Now that we have established that government policies regarding population control are tyranny and blasphemy and racism and a violation of human rights, who's down for a pipe or cigar and some good bourbon?

Ya know what? I have an event in Harrisonville/Marshall soon and a Saturday to kill. October 1. Maybe we could meet mid-way between Marshall and wherever you live in the KC conglomerplex.tuttle wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 13:20Most definitely. Should I ask my Mom for permission?

Yes. That was the joke.Troubadour wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 16:02 You're falsely conflating support population control solely for racist reasons with supporting it for admirable ones which have nothing to do with racism.

You have this one backwards.Troubadour wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 16:02 it's tantamount to saying that opposing abortion is "white supremacist" just because some white supremacists oppose it solely for racist reasons (e.x. to keep their race from becoming a "minority" or whatever).
The Party of white supremacy supports abortion because it kills a disproportionately large number of Black children.

I'm only an hour and a half from Marshall so I could theoretically meet you pretty much anywhere between here and there (and if you're talking Harrisonville MO I'm only 20 mins north of there). I'd have to ask my Mom what my availability is on Oct 1 but it might work! I'm nearly positive that I could carve something out.Del wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 14:07Ya know what? Fun fact, I had family in Malta Bend for a handful of generations. My grandfather was born in a house there.

Malta Bend! I think we've talked about his before.tuttle wrote: 20 Sep 2022, 05:17I'm only an hour and a half from Marshall so I could theoretically meet you pretty much anywhere between here and there (and if you're talking Harrisonville MO I'm only 20 mins north of there). My mother grew up on a farm there! We were always "going to the farm" to visit my grandparents when I was a kid.
Some of my cousins still work that farm. Other cousins married farm boy neighbors. One of my favorite cousins just retired from teaching her entire career at Malta Bend school. Typical graduation class has about 10 kids.
I have your number in my phone. Stand by.

I will respectfully disagree with your dogmas, but don't try to pass your ideology off as "science."Troubadour wrote: 22 Sep 2022, 21:44Please, most of them aren't even killed and aren't even children. It's so scientifically-devoid you don't even believe that yourself (and thankfully, even most relevant people on the "right" don't) - which is why you have to keep ignoring the reality of physical development and cognition being taken into the life equation. It makes for nice rhetoric to rile up and profit form the masses, though.Del wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 16:35You have this one backwards.Troubadour wrote: 19 Sep 2022, 16:02 it's tantamount to saying that opposing abortion is "white supremacist" just because some white supremacists oppose it solely for racist reasons (e.x. to keep their race from becoming a "minority" or whatever).
The Party of white supremacy supports abortion because it kills a disproportionately large number of Black children.
And it doesn't matter if they're "black" or not. If they were better off not being born into such deleterious circumstances then anything that reduces the irresponsible child birth in question is fair game. There's certainly no reason to "artificially" preserve a "race" as though it was an endangered species or something. In fact, that's rather demeaning.
And yeah, I'm sure there are plenty of white supremacists who oppose abortion specifically for "whites" while supporting it for "blacks" because their rationale doesn't go beyond silly racism.
And don't tell me what I don't believe.
I could bury you with facts and links, but you aren't curious to learn. You like dead babies, and especially those of "inferior" classes.

I haven't read through the whole thread, so it may be in there somewhere, but I'm curious: at what point do you believe the meaningless lump of tissue becomes a human being with dignity and worth?Troubadour wrote: 24 Sep 2022, 02:21Dogmas are simply conclusions based on science or information. And a wonderful thing at that, not something "bad" as you seem to imply, since what worth would science or information be if it didn't lead to the formation of meaningful conclusions?Del wrote: 23 Sep 2022, 06:14 I will respectfully disagree with your dogmas, but don't try to pass your ideology off as "science."
And don't tell me what I don't believe.
No one who is even marginally credible could believe that an embryo a day after conception with no greater physical development or cognition is directly equitable to a child. That's why even "conservative" regulations related to abortion are predicated on development or cognition markers, such as a heartbeat.
I honestly don't think you're naïve enough to believe that dogma, it's just a simple, effective propaganda tool which preys on people's emotions.
They aren't dead babies and they never will be, plain and simple. Anymore than "meat" will be "murder" just because PETA "says so". And even fully-grown mammals display more physical development and cognition than an embryo one millisecond after conception does, so even their cases is stronger than yours.I could bury you with facts and links, but you aren't curious to learn. You like dead babies, and especially those of "inferior" classes.
There's no fact and link you can display which will state that an embryo one nanosecond after conception has a heartbeat or brain activity - so if you're just going to display pictures or information about later-stage abortions (which I'm pretty sure everyone has seen), it will have no bearing on the facts and had and be easily debunked.
And yes, I totally love genuinely inferior classes having fewer children (if any at all) than genuinely superior ones - white, black, or whatever color their inferiority is dressed up in, We certainly don't need to apply idle egalitarian fancies in cases of genuine judgments of inferiority based on genuine and consistent principles.
Much as we don't have to worry about idle fancies such as nonexistent "dead babies" by merely stating the fact that many degenerate birth circumstances would be better off having never existed to begin with.
